Architectural Almaty

For the past few days I have been staying in the former capital of Kazakhstan: Almaty. It is an impressive city, with plenty of park spaces, a stunning mountain backdrop to the south, and an orderly grid of Soviet and pre-Soviet era buildings.

Here is the Museum of Kazkah Traditional Instruments, next to Panfilov Park.

The stately, imposing Kazakh-British Technical University (formerly the Parliament Building).
